Raised deep in the Coerthan wilderness amongst a matriarchal clan of Keepers and trained as their next priestess, Vivien was heavily sheltered from the outside world. When the full moon ascended into the night sky and her people began their monthly celebration, her clan was ambushed and massacred by the Lambs of Dalamud in a ritualistic sacrifice to the ever nearing red moon. Clanless and free from duty, Vivien has roamed Eorzea as an adventurer, seeking companionship.  ❜

Vivien and Kaian are two halves of one whole — for what is the Moonmaiden without her shield of Light? Despite an initially offputting first impression of one another, their love would blossom over countless adventures together. No matter the trial, no matter the tribulation — these two will forever overcome anything that dares to threaten their bond.

Sōl village is the sunlit sister of Vivien's beloved Luné with F'vaz as their Nunh. Having met under less-than-stellar circumstances, they nonetheless found themselves falling in love with one another. Their union signified a joyous rejoining of their villages resolving centuries of conflict between the villages beloved by sun and moon.

Vivien met this feisty Gaelicat soon after the fateful night that destroyed her clan. Bonding over a shared love of salted fish, Vivien and Jacques have been inseparable since their initial meeting. Jacques has been a near constant source of joy and comfort for Vivien albeit a headache as well, often getting into things he shouldn't.

A brume rat turned respected knight serving underneath the guidance of Claudien Winter, Theodora was tasked with teaching Vivien swordsmanship during her time in Ishgard. Two distinctly different women, they get along oddly well despite how frequently they would initially butt heads.

If you've ever wondered how Vivien always manages to look so impeccably beautiful at social events, Jean Faunus is the man behind the vision. More than her makeup artist and designer, Jean is a close friend and trusted confidant of Vivien's.

Natasha is a noblewoman of House Siefelle, respected knight and trusted friend of Vivien. The two were quick friends upon their initial meeting and regularly exchange letters throughout their individual adventures. It is to one another that they first expressed love for their individual partners.

Having run away from her duty and now a full-fledged adventurer, Vivien is more often than not found in the most unlikely places across Etheirys. Adventuring contacts, potential friends, enemies and even rivals are highly sought after!

Vivien is a bookworm at heart and is rarely seen without a book in her hands. Recently, she has begun to publish her own erotic romance novels under the pseudonym Bella Starwright. Perhaps you're a fellow bibliophile or a fan of her work? Or do you think her romance novels are absolute sinful drivel?

Both notoriously bad with money and naive to a fault, there is rarely anything good to come once an unattended Vivien steps foot in a market. Are you a market scammer or pickpocket vying for her gil purse? Or perhaps a protector or potential friend instead?

For most of Vivien's life, she experienced very little of the world outside of her isolated clan deep in Coerthas. Luné's culture differs from other clans but she is always hoping to bond and connect with the Keepers she encounters along her many journeys.

Are you, too, blessed by the Twelve? Or are you simply a researcher wishing to know more about those connected to the Gods? Maybe even a follower? Do you wish to challenge her claims of divinity? Those with aethersight might note that her aether appears particularly peculiar and vibrant albeit like a winter chill.

A boon granted by Menphina's blessing is the ability to siphon aether from moonlight and transfer it into crystals. Such crystals can be used for gear augmentation or magitek power sources and may be highly sought after for such uses.

─ Character History

  BIOGRAPHY — CHARACTER SPOILERS AHEAD    Nestled deep in the Coerthan wilderness lies a reclusive village unmarked on any map known only as Luné, inhabited by Keepers of the Moon heavily devoted to their worship of the goddess Menphina. The denizens of the clan are rarely seen outside of their village, only leaving their blissful solitude for trade and to complete their monthly pilgrimage to the Mark of Menphina for prayer beneath the dazzling full moon.In some Luné prayers, a tale is sung telling of the birth of a child whose eyes beheld the stars themselves. Initially viewed as an abomination and not of this realm, the matriarch of the clan would command that the infant be left in the freezing cold to succumb to the elements. Menphina then appeared before the Keepers, breaking her vow of non-intervention, and took the child in her arms. Sparing not a moment, Menphina would bless the child with glowing stars across her skin; it is said in one song that Menphina plucked a star from the sky and imbued the infant with glowing star freckles while another song would claim that the stars were formed from Menphina’s tears of joy. Returning the child to her mother and fleeing back to her sanctuary of ice among the gods, Menphina fell silent once more.The infant blessed by Menphina would become known to the village as the Moonmaiden, whose eyes and skin mirrored the stars under which they walked, a woman whose aether was born of moonlight. Eventually, the Moonmaiden became a mother herself, her newborn daughter inheriting her glowing freckles and inclination for the moon. The blessing would pass from mother to daughter for generations, over which centuries would pass and the Moonmaiden would prove herself an instrumental part in the clan’s survival.In the near present day, the mantle would fall to a shy, gentle girl whose mother named her Vivien. Full of wonder and curiosity, the young Vivien was always seen with a book in hand and often dreamed of exploring the world outside of Luné, the village having long been concealed with magicks following a conflict with another clan. Despite her wonder of the world, exploration of it was not to be her fate and thus she spent her youth training 'neath her mother as the next Moonmaiden. Moonlit dances, astromancy lessons and aetheric training consumed much of her childhood and teenage years although she often would escape to the still-green Coerthan mountains to spend afternoons reading beneath the warm sun. She rarely encountered the outside world, only doing so during the clan's bi-annual pilgrimages to the Mark of Menphina. These small excursions always left her yearning for adventure and deeply wishing she had not been born with such a heavy burden upon her shoulders.With its crimson glow looming in the night sky, Menphina's Hound approached the star as the peaceful people of Luné were deep in the throes of the Plenilune. What should have been a joyous occasion for the clan as they celebrated beneath the full moon instead twisted into a night of horror as the Lambs of Dalamud appeared. The forest would be filled with screams and bloodshed that night as the clan was massacred in a ritualistic sacrifice for the approaching red moon. Vivien barely managed to escape, her mother having sacrificed herself to secure her beloved daughter’s survival. Cries of agony from the only people she had ever known echoed in the forest as she fled.After many days walking on painful, blistering feet and befriending a Gaelicat along the way, Vivien would find herself in Gridania where she would be extended a great kindness from the adventurer guild's proprietor in the form of lodging. It is here that Vivien would lay recovering from her injuries as the Calamity came, forever changing Eorzea and plunging her beloved Coerthas into an eternal winter. Encumbered by guilt, grief and trauma from that bloody night, Vivien chose to hide her identity, concealing her glowing freckles beneath layers of clothes. Eventually, she would encounter Kaian Walker at the job board and they would form a small adventuring party together, albeit after an off putting first impression of one another. Their adventures would take them all over the world and lead to them eventually falling in love.

Moontide Manor is available to visit for any weary travelers. Home to the Village of Luné, this is a recreation of its main manor and other locations of importance in the form of FC rooms. The manor is intended to act as a visual base for the village of Luné in the event of any potential storytelling either solo or collaborative. Due to the limitations of FF14 housing, the manor is not entirely accurate to what was originally imagined but it serves its purpose beautifully.Completed FC rooms: the Moonmaiden's dreamspace.
